We were pleased to have worked with The Swedish Club on the updated edition of their series of Forward Defence Guides concerning Deductions from Hire and Remedies. The Guides were developed in collaboration with James Mackay, one of our Directors based in CJC’s London office.

This series is designed to provide practical insights and guidance on common issues that arise in relation to the non-payment or short-payment of hire when a vessel is on time charter. The Guides focus on recurring issues for charterers and owners, both legal and practical, including remedies, with references to case law.

The first Guide in the series examines Deductions from Hire: Off-hire and Equitable Set-off – offering a concise summary of the matters that need to be considered and assessed when these types of disputes occur.
