UK Ship Register - Recent Changes

BREXIT ALERT: In this article, CJC provide a concise summary of the new regulations affecting the UK Ship Register which came into force this March. These new regulations open up the UK Flag to a wider group of international owners and expand the existing bareboat charter-out system, allowing vessels to temporarily suspend their UK flag registration while the vessel is being bareboat chartered. These changes are designed to encourage international owners to “look at the UK flag with fresh eyes”… just in time for Brexit.
