Andrew Shannon
Andy is a Director and Master Mariner in our Singapore office.
Andy has been based in Singapore since 2014 and joined CJC from another international shipping firm.
Andy specialises in Admiralty Law with extensive experience of advising on maritime casualties and claims and the subsequent contractual disputes that arise from these incidents.
He has been involved in disputes arising out of marine casualties including collisions, groundings, cargo claims unsafe port claims, heavy weather damage, total loss, dangerous cargo issues, MARPOL violations, crewing issues and salvage.
Prior to practising law, Andy spent 16 years at sea on a wide variety of different ships including oil tankers, Ro-Ro cargo, passenger, military supply, small containers, cruise ships and general cargo ships.
Andy has acquired considerable experience and training with modern electronic navigational systems, traditional navigation procedures and ship’s stability. He also spent time ashore as an Internal Auditor for a large US-based ship owner where he carried out audits and accident investigations worldwide. He is a qualified ISM Lead Auditor, ISPS Auditor and Company Security Officer.
In 2018, the Singapore Business Review named Andy as one of Singapore’s most influential lawyers aged 40 and under.
Andy is qualified in England and Wales.
