David Owens

David is a director in our London office.

David is a litigator specialising in the shipping and commodities industries. He is experienced in resolving operational issues and disputes across both 'dry' and 'wet' shipping (including relating to charterparties, bills of lading, pool agreements, bunker supply contracts, cargo contamination and collisions), as well as disputes arising in relation to shipbuilding and ship financing arrangements and commodity sale contract disputes. He has gained this experience both at a number of international law firms and working in-house for a leading ship management company.

He has acted in international arbitrations in various forums in London and abroad, including the ICC, LMAA, SIAC and FOSFA, as well as in the English High Court and Court of Appeal. He has also advised in relation to matters involving proceedings in foreign courts in North America, West Africa and the Middle East.

David is a supporting member of the London Maritime Arbitrators Association.
