Edward Harris
Edward is an associate solicitor in our London office.
Edward is an experienced international dispute resolution lawyer with a marine background having spent time at sea with the Royal Navy. Edward’s core practice is in commercial and maritime matters. He brings a particularly practical angle to his work as well as expertise in respect of general, insurance and maritime disputes.
Edward regularly acts for clients located across the world in commercial and maritime matters covering the full range of P&I, Defence and marine insurance issues as well as disputes arising out of the sale and purchase of both ships and the commodities they carry. He regularly acts for corporate entities, commodities trading houses, owners, charterers, underwriters, and P&I clubs.
Edward endeavours to seek commercial resolution for clients where possible, but is experienced in representing clients in the High Court and Court of Appeal in London as well as in arbitral forums. He has also advised in matters involving proceedings in foreign courts in North America, East Asia and the Middle East.
On the non-contentious side, Edward is involved in providing coverage advice and advising on contractual terms in a wide variety of shipping contracts including charterparties and vessel sharing/connecting carrier agreements.
In addition to general commercial litigation, Edward handles marine claims and investigations involving fires, floods, collisions, explosions, salvage and general average.
Edward has also completed client secondments with one of the world’s largest shipping companies and a European listed chemicals company.
