Kate Law
Kate is a managing associate in our London office.
Kate's experience lies predominantly in shipping litigation, with a particular focus on wet shipping disputes. Kate handles charterparty and bill of lading disputes, as well as collision and salvage claims and has dealt with both arbitration and English High Court proceedings (up to the Supreme Court) as well as other forms of ADR. She acts for owners, managers, charterers and insurers. Kate also has experience in dealing with MOA disputes and ship recycling matters.
Kate is part of our sanctions advisory team and regularly assists clients in relation to a variety of sanctions issues, both pre and post-fixture and under all types of contract. Kate also works alongside our transactional team, advising on contractual drafting and certain aspects of ship financing and sale and purchase.
Prior to joining CJC, Kate worked in claims for a large international insurer. Kate has undertaken secondments overseas to an international salvage company assisting on a large-scale and highly complex maritime salvage operation with both contentious and non-contentious issues, as well as internships with marine law firms in Hamburg, Singapore and Sydney. Kate has a working understanding of French having also studied law in France.
